More Dutch students join A. N. College


Research collaboration and student exchange initiatives of A.N.College, Patna, a constituent unit of Magadh, are witnessing new heights as three more international students from delft University of Technology, The Netherlands, reached the campus for internship in the department of environment and water management.
                            These students, namely, Julius Huijts, Marijn Wouters and Willem De Wit, are working on building a sustainable model for a stand-alone solar power micro-grid for those rural areas which have been earmarked by the Bihar Renewable Energy Development Agency (BREDA) for renewable power utilization. Earlier, two German post-graduate students completed their master’ s project on double reverse osmosis (RO) arsenic filtration technology from the same department, and were subsequently awarded their Master’ s from the University of Advanced Sciences, Karlsruhe, Delft University of Technology, Sotiria Lourma, successfully completed her fieldwork for Master’ s thesis on the geology and sedimentology of arseniferrous aquifers in Maner block, Patna, from the college.
                            Two post-graduate students of A. N. College - Aditya Kumar and awadhesh Birla who visited University of Girona, Spain, under the European Commissions Erasmus Mundus Scholarship Program for 10-month internship, have been selected by host university to vomplete hte remainder of their MSc course in Spain. The PhD scholar to Delft University from A. N. College, Ajay G Bhatt, is already working on the geology of fluvial plains of Bihar with respect to groundwater arsenic contamination for his thesis.
                            Under the Erasmus Mundus Faculty Mobility Award, two teachers of the college, Ashok Kumar Ghosh and Nupur Bose, undertook research assignments in University of Advanced Sciences, Karlsruhe, Germany, and Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands, respentively, Along with Arun Kumar of the department of electronics, these teachers presented three research papers at international workshop on water scarcity issues held at Ege University, Izmir, Turkey, and one joint research paer with TU Delft at an international conference in The Netherlands.
