
A. N. College to install solar energy lamps
A N College, Patna, is all set to install solar energy lamps on its campus. To begin with, the college will install six solar energy lamps to provide proper lights on its sprawling campus. This step is being taken to save energy from being wasted on the campus, said college principal Haridwar Singh.
According to him, the college has applied for its re-accreditation for NAAC from the UGC. A team of UGC is likely to visit the college in July. The college has already been granted NAAC A+ status by UGC, Singh said, adding the college is hopeful that the UGC would grant it the Centre with Potential of Excellence (CPE) award.
The principal told TOI that a state-of-the-art reading hall has been built on the college campus at an estimated cost of Rs 20 lakh. The special feature of the hall is that it provides separate rooms for boys, girls and teachers for reading purpose, he said and added each department is being linked through computers. A modern gym hall has also been built on the college campus to fulfill the needs of students while work on the girls` hostel is being completed on priority basis, Singh said.
